1DT Distributed Parameters Electric Model

·       Applying the Kirchhoff’s current and voltage laws to the distributed parameters circuit, we obtain the following systems:

·       The model can be used for the calculation of AC losses and current distribution in any kind of superconducting magnet wound with multistrand cable (Rutherford cable for Accelerator Magnets or Cable in Conduit Conductors for Fusion Magnets)

·       The numerical model has been compared with the analytical solution of the system equations

·       The numerical model has been validated against experimental results obtained at CERN and at FZK Karlsruhe

Comparison of analytical and numerical solution

The model is suited for the evaluation of current distribution in very long cables used for accelerator magnets. The shape of the magnet ends affects the current distribution in the multistrand Rutherford cable due to the longitudinal variations of the field perpendicular to the cable
