LEMA (LABORATORY OF ELECTRIC DRIVES AND MACHINES)

LEMA is the laboratory where the experimental activity of the research group of  "Converters, drives and electrical machines"' is carried out.

The laboratory occupies an area of about 250 m2 at the ground floor of the DIE, and is mainly targeted to experimental developments in the following research fields:

1.        motor control techniques
2.
        power conditioning systems
3.
        power electronics converters
4.
        application of fuel cells
.

The experimental activity is carried out by researcher, technician, Ph. D. students, students,  ecc (staff)

People working at LEMA have skills in the fields of Electrical machines and drives, but also good knowledge in the many others fields like: analogue and digital electronics, control system, information technology, electric system, electric and electronic measurement systems.

In the laboratory high level systems, instruments and equipments are available to researchers and students to assist their activities.

The laboratory equipments, together with the skills of the staff, are available for services to the industries in the area of electrical drives and machines. Typical examples of services for third parties are:

-          Tests and inspections on motors and drives  (standard CEI 2-3)
-
Tests on drive systems for electric vehicles (i.e. standard R.A.C.E. Regulation 85)
-
Test of drive and machines under particular load condition or working cycle.
-
Test of prototype of special drive and machines
 -
On-site test and measurement on electrical systems or power plants
